Here is my first and last blog. I found this article I saw
in the metro newspaper very disturbing and WIERD and thought I should maybe
share it with you guys. The article was
basically about a number of University students looking to connect with wealthy
benefactors known as “sugar daddies” eager to pay for a relationship as a “mutually
beneficial arrangement” for students known as “sugar babies” looking for
someone to help with their tuition fees.
Instead of taking out loans like people would normally, these students
turn to SeekingArangement.com. It’s questionable whether these arrangements are
just a quick fix to a more lavish life style. “According
to the website, universities in Toronto lead the nation on its list of
“Canada’s Top 20 Fastest Growing Sugar Baby Colleges.” Ryerson University sits
in first place, with 183 new “sugar babies,” while the University of Toronto is
third, with 156 new signups.” This agreement includes committing to a
relationship with an often older man looking for someone to pamper mentally,
emotionally and financially. Sugar babies are described on the site as being attractive,
smart and ambitious. Some might say that this business is borderline
prostitution but the sites purpose is justified by saying financial exchanges
happen in every relationship.
Here is a link with a video that has some
more information:

I would say that this issue is rather shocking being it shows how kids nowadays are willing to do anything to reach their goals. I strongly believe that it is against my morals because I believe that the end does NOT justify the means. Even though these students are doing this to pay for their education, they are practically having a fake relationship with someone just for money and that is morally wrong.
